Employee Picks

Back by popular demand…our employee picks.

Up this week is Sarah.

Sarah said that she chose this necklace  because “it’s so cute! I love the different charms and the pink and silver tone.” Cindy Smith necklaces range from simple and everyday to beautiful statement pieces like this one. This Silver Tone and Pink Chain Cross Charm Necklace comes in a set with matching earrings.

Sarah choose this Southern Thread T-shirt, “because of the color and the design on the front and back.” Personally, I think the slight rip in this shirt gives it a unique edge to it.

As far as her jean pick, “I like the fit and color of these jeans, super comfortable.” The Sofia Jean by Lucky Brand is a bot cut jean with a low rise and a relaxed fit. The color, Ol Oak, is perfect for Fall.

When asked about the boots, Sarah said, “the boot is just a basic black to bring out the black in the shirt.” Her pick was the Mistie by Dan Post. It is a 13″ black boot that goes with almost anything and everything.

Smile Pockets

Pockets that make you happy? I’m kidding, they are much more than that, but they do make me happy. Smile pockets are the curved pockets usually found on western shirts that have piping on them that comes up to a point. What is piping you ask? It is the raised string like material that is used as detail on shirts. Do you know all these terms? What about saddle stitching and western yoke? It is time to brush up on your western shirt lingo so that you can write out a detailed Christmas wish list! We’ve got you covered. Our Western Shirt Guide will explain every detail and feature.

Numerology

Not the numerology that will tell you your future or your personality type, this is Levi’s numerology. Have you ever wondered about their secret codes? Well, for one, even sizes are women’s and odd sizes are junior’s. That is for all clothes and brands, not just Levi’s. That bit of info was like a light shining into a room for me. Was I the only one who had no idea about that? Anyway, back to Levi’s specific numbering. Our Levi’s Numerology page is your guide.

What do I need for fall….Bootcut, straight leg, jegging and skinny please. About 10 men just rolled their eyes at me. But each jean serves a purpose for me. Jeggings are great under my boots with big comfy sweaters. I wear my skinnies with heels for a night on the town. Boot cut are a great anytime look for when I want to rock my cowboy boots, and my straight leg are for those days when I want to wear simple flats. See…they are all needed!!

Guys need more than one too! At least 2…bootcut and straight leg. You guys can skip the jeggings…please. Please!

So do tell, what is your favorite number in the Levi’s world?

Texas Women

You guys, I am so upset. I wasn’t able to watch Texas Women last night. I have it on my DVR and will catch up in a few days. Right now I am off to Denver to enjoy some cooler temps for a few days. When a high of 90 is considered cooler, that is a problem! But it is a good 15 degrees cooler than the current highs in OKC right now. I love summer but seeing things like these tops at the store make me long for Fall. How pretty is this yellow/marigold color?

Have a great weekend you guys…and fill me in on what I missed last night!

Boot Fit

Do your boots fit!?!?! I am the worst at knowing if shoes really fit or not. That might be because I have 2 different size feet…but anyway. I hear people say a lot that their boots are too big because they slip in the heel. Did you know they are supposed to at first? I didn’t. Do you know how to tell if the width is correct? Yea, I didn’t eaither. Luck for me we have this Cowboy Boot Buyer’s Guide on the site! Click through to find out how to get the right fit for your new kicks. Speaking of new kicks…

Don’t forget to order your Nocona College Series Boots before footsball season!

Google +1

Have you guys seen the social media buttons we have on each product page? They are they so you can share items with your friends and family. Recently I asked our tech guy about the newest buttons, the Google +1 button.

What is Google +1 (pronounced Plus One)? Well, the Google +1 button is similar to the facebook like button, but it works with your google account. When you see a product you like and want to share it with your friends just click on the +1 button in our social tool box, which you’ll find just below the item highlights on  very page. If you’re not already, it will ask you to sign into your google profile account first. Don’t know if you have a google profile? Basically, if you have gmail or any kind of google account, that will work.

So let me get this right…Say I see a pair of boots I love. I can “+1″ them. Then later, when my husband is searching for gifts for me and he googles “boots”, he will see that I like those? Yes, that is how it is intended to work – but it is still pretty new, so it will take time to really work. But go +1 things you love and help get the ball rolling!

So I have a few ways to share items right? Help me out with a run through of them please! The Google +1 is just the newest option in ways to let your friends on the web know about products and prices you like at langstons.com. You can use the facebook like button to publish the product name and price to your
facebook news feed or use the Tweet button to share it on twitter. The great thing about the tweet button is that you can always edit the message before sending it out to your twitter feed. If neither facebook or twitter are your favorite networks, you can use the orange share button in the tool box. Click on it and you can choose from dozens of social networks on which you can share your favorite Langston’s products on deals.

Are there other benefits to liking on Facebook and/or following on Twitter? Those are great for keeping up with new items, western wear trends, and the western lifestyle, as well as communicate with our other fans and followers. As an added bonus, we publish daily specials to each one of those feeds and a lot of times it’s new stuff, not just last season of closeout items.

I hope you all follow this blog in your reader or through whatever means you like. And our Twitter handle is @langstons and our Facebook page is  facebook.com/langstonswesternwear.

I hope this helped to explain the buttons on our product pages and now you can start sharing things all over the place!

Employee Pick – week 14

Up this week is Samantha. She said, “Despite the random cold and rainy days, summer weather is pretty much here! Perfect for cute dresses like this one.” The one she picked was by Stetson is 100% cotton with an empire waist, bust shirring, scoop neck, internal shelf bra for more support, cap sleeves, and unique back seaming detail.

She picked these boots because, “the neutral color on them doesn’t clash with the patterns on the dress.” I think the slight detail on the stitching is a great accent without being too busy.

The Lucky Brand bracelet Samantha picked is one of my favorites. I think it is simple and beautiful. Samantha said, “Lucky always seems to have some of the best jewelry. I think that the turquoise stones compliment the brown scheme nicely.”
