Miranda Lambert on Law & Order

Have y’all heard Miranda Lambert is gonna guest star on a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit? YES! Set your TiVos!! It’ll be airing February 8 and in the episode, an aspiring actress is found unconscious in Central Park with drugs in her system and evidence of sexual trauma. Miranda is cast as another actress who is in danger of being assaulted by the producer of a reality TV show. Harry Connick Jr. and Michael McKean also guest star in the episode.

Miranda tweeted about guest starring back on January 7th: Yall I’m so freaking excited to be on my favorite show ever !!!

I’m pretty pumped about seeing her acting debut and how exciting that she’s making her debut on her favorite show ever!! What do y’all think? Will you be watching? Are you a fan of Law & Order: SVU? I will definitely be checking it out because I’m a MIRANDA LAMBERT fan!!

Wear It: You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

Have you heard Miley Cyrus did a remake of a Bob Dylan song? Yep, it’s called You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go. The song is featured on ‘Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International,’ a four-disc charity compilation album out Jan. 24. Check out her version of the old Dylan song:

Honestly I was surprised, I’m definitely used to her pop side, so to hear her sing something like this is AWESOME. She’s so versatile! This song is pretty low key and chill, just like her outfit. Here’s how I’d recreate that laid back look:

Lucky Women’s Holiday Henley Thermal Top – Black
Rock and Roll Cowgirl Women’s Low Rise Boot Cut Jeans with Hand Stitching
Ariat Women’s Amora Boots – Shattered Copper/Tan

I know she’s got a sleeveless shirt on, but it is still technically winter so… Her outfit is very basic and cool, so I went with your basic henley, Rock and Roll brand jeans (how could I not??) and some boots that you could wear with EVERYTHING.

What do y’all think of her outfit and the song?

New Music Releases

Our new one this week is Darrell Scott’s Long Ride Home. Honestly I’m not too familiar with Darrell Scott, so I decided to hunt down some info on him when I found out this album was coming out today. What I found out is that I AM familiar with him, or his songs rather…He’s written songs for Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Martina McBride and Brad Paisley to name a few.

I also found this article on Folk Alley to be a rather haunting review of sorts for Long Ride Home.

After taking a listen to the album, I can definitely see how he has a relaxing tone to his voice such as Willie Nelson has. You should definitely check out Someday, Every Road Leads Back to You, and Still Got a Ways to Go from this album.

If you are interested in some great songwriting and great songs, go check this one out.

New Music Releases

Two HUGE releases today folks! Emotional Traffic by Tim McGraw and 100 Proof by Kellie Pickler.

First Up, Kellie Pickler’s 100 Proof. The first thing I noticed about this album is the album cover. It reminds me of old record album covers. So I was not surprised when I started listening to this album and hearing so much traditional sounding country. The first song on the album as a matter of fact is called “Where’s Tammy Wynette”. Kellie definitely takes you back to traditional country roots with this one and there are some darn good songs on here. These are the ones I loved right away: “Tough”, “100 Proof”, “Mother’s Day”, and “Rockaway”. Go check this one out for sure.

Next up, Tim McGraw’s Emotional Traffic. This has been a long awaited release for sure. This is Tim’s last record with Curb Records after a 20 year partnership. Tim has been quoted as saying this is one of his best albums ever. We’ve featured some of the singles off this album but now having had a chance to listen to the whole album, these are the ones that I love from the album: “Right Back Atcha Babe”, “I Will Not Fall Down”, “Better Than I Used to Be”, and “Hey Now”. This is definitely a stand out album from Tim, go get it. Now.

Wear It: You Gonna Fly

Keith Urban came out with a new video this week, You Gonna Fly. It’s a concert montage type of video, which I always enjoy, specifically from Keith Urban. I’ll tell you why… I’ve been to a Keith Urban concert and he puts on the best. concert. ever. If you weren’t a fan going into the concert, you will be coming out. He generally likes to throw caution to the wind and walk out into the crowd and just play his music with all that energy around him. Here check out the video:

So let’s get talking about Keith Urban’s style. It’s super casual, always jeans and t-shirts. Here’s how I’d formulate a Langston’s style Keith Urban outfit. You can obviously change up the color tee and color of the boot, but I’d definitely say this is Keith’s “uniform”.

Men’s Dickies Short Sleeve Solid Performance Henley
Rock and Roll Cowboy Men’s Slim Fit Boot Cut Pistol Jeans with Heavy Stitching
Dingo Men’s Dean 11″ Harness Boots – Black

So what do you think? Would you rock this look?

The Perfect Fit

I read an article in the Feb issue of Lucky Magazine about finding jeans with the perfect fit. Their tips were too perfect not to share with you guys.

Know your body type. If you are thick around the middle, try a trouser jean. Pear shaped? Try Boot Cut.

Don’t take “boyfriend” too literally. The main point here was that yes, they should be loose and comfy, but not sloppy. They still need to fit you.

Take color into account. Dark is slimming. Look at the wash and the location of the fading and ticking.

Don’t go too low. This tip was interesting to me. It said that anything lower than 3 inches below your navel and you will create a muffin top on just about anyone.

Buy them a bit tight. All jeans stretch a little – even true fit ones.

And when you find the perfect pair…BUY TWO! I know this all too well. My favorite pair has been discontinued and I mourn their loss weekly!

For the full article, check out this month’s issue of Lucky Magazine.

Speaking of the loss of my favorite jean, I have been in an all out search to replace them. I was looking for a low rise, easy fit, slight boot cut. I want them for weekend wear with flats and my favorite converse sneakers.Last week I tried out the Southside Charlie Baby Boot.

First off, I love the feel of these. They are soft and on the thinner side. Not too thin, just a bit more soft and moveable than a rigid denim. The baby boot is perfect for flats and tennis shoes. So far so good. I still miss my favorite pair, but these might slide into place as my new go to casual weekend wear jean.

New Music Releases

Ok, so I jumped the gun last week on the whole Tim McGraw album coming out today, it’s not coming out til next week. But we do have some singles that have been coming out teasing us. And they are definitely teasing us. I told you a little bit about this album at the beginning of the month.  Here are the releases so far:

Felt Good On My Lips
Better Than I Used to Be
Right Back Atcha Babe
The One that Got Away

I’m so looking forward to a brand new album from Tim McGraw, he’s definitely one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen him in concert before, you TOTALLY should. It will be one of the best concerts you’ll go to. There are just certain songs when sung in concert that will just give you goosebumps and you’ll remember for ever and Tim McGraw performs a few of those.

See you back here next week for my take on the new releases coming out next week!

Wear It: Baggage Claim

Did y’all catch this performance of Miranda Lambert’s Baggage Claim at the 2011 CMA Awards? It’s now become her official video for Baggage Claim. Miranda always has fun outfits and I think she looks great in black…go check it out.

I love the black outfit with those pops of silver she has in her wide belt and jacket. And you know what they always say ladies…black is very slimming! This is how I’d go about putting together a black and silver outfit, Langston’s style.

Witness Women’s Long Sleeve Layering Burn Out T-Shirt – Black (Closeout)
Cindy Smith Women’s Rhinestone Cross Ring (Closeout)
Levi’s ® 524 ™ Women’s Skinny Jeans – Black Pressed (Discontinued)
Corral Women’s Cowboy Boots with Silver Star Underlay – Black

So that’s how I’d do a silver and black outfit. Those boots are a MUST and you can either add a silver belt like Miranda or a big chunky necklace, or bracelet or like we’ve selected a big ring. In the words of Miranda Lambert’s Baggage Claim, come and get it!

Let us know if you have a favorite outfit you want us to recreate!!
