Dickies Bullfighters to Join Top Bullriders at Langston’s

As I mentioned yesterday, we’ll be having an autograph signing event at our Stockyards store to coincide with this year’s Cophenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour Championship presented by Dickies at the Ford Center. Well, we just got word that Dickies will be providing us with some bullfighters as well. These are the guys that bravely put themselves in between the bull and the rider when the ride is over.

Of course, this may change due to injuries, but right now scheduled to appear are Frank Newsom, Joe Baumgartner, and Shorty Gorham. So, come by on Saturday, February 16th from 11am to 1pm and meet these men of steel. Meanwhile, check out some of Joe’s work during the 2008 Built Ford Tough championship round in Sacramento:

The Copenhagen Bull Riding Challenger Tour Championship presented by Dickies is coming to downtown Oklahoma City February 15 – Feb 17. The three day event will be held at the Ford Center arena located at 100 West Reno. This is one of the top bull riding competitions in the world, let alone in the PBR. The best of the best will be on hand and it should be another great event for bull riding and rodeo fans in general.

To celebrate, we’re going to have a special two hour autograph signing event at our flagship store in Stockyards City featuring some of the best bullriders in the business. From 11am to 1pm on February 16th you can come by the store and meet your favorite contenders in this years event face to face. On hand will be PBR world champion Justin McBride, Sean Willingham, Mike Lee, L J Jenkins, Brendan Clark, and Ross Coleman, as well as other top bullriders competing in the toughest sport on dirt.

And if that’s not enough, we’ll be having a drawing for two VIP tickets to Saturday night’s session, including dinner for two in Bricktown and a limo ride to the event. Registration for the drawing will begin Thursday, February 7th at all of our metro area locations. The drawing will be held at Noon during the autograph event. You must be present to win. Prize packages compliments of Rocky Boots and Langston’s.

But is that REALLY your size?

The answer may shock you. More often than not, sizes differ greatly between brands, whether it be jeans, shirts, or shoes. A new website is gearing up to be the only tool you’ll ever need to determine your true size on a brand-by-brand basis. The brainchild of 22 year-old college student and entrepreneur Melissa Adelman, Size Me Up will offer an application designed to give you a quick and easy way to translate your size from one brand to another.

This overwhelming lack of consistency is mostly a product of a sneaky little industry practice being called “vanity sizing”. Basically, it is just a poorly concealed attempt by labels to help weight-conscious customers feel less of a pinch, so to speak. By simply reducing the size while maintaining the original fit, customers are led to believe that they are wearing much smaller fits than those they may wear by a different manufacturer, thus ensuing a great deal of brand loyalty.

So head on over to Size Me Up and discover your true size. You may feel better, you may feel worse. But at least you’ll know the truth, and with a little research, you’ll never again have to use the pliers to put on that favorite pair of jeans.

Countdown to IFR 38!

When it comes to professional rodeo and its gritty athletes who compete year-round, it isn’t about the fame or the money. You see, in rodeo it’s about great fans and great big belt buckles. This year’s upcoming International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City has come up with a very fitting theme for the festivities. Dubbed “It’s About the Buckle” in reference to their Championship belt buckles, which are awarded in lieu of standard trophies, competitions will take place from January 14-19 at the Oklahoma State Fair Arena. IFR 38 will feature four nights of championship rodeo performances, starting Thursday, January 17, and wrapping up with afternoon and evening performances on Saturday, January 19.

With events starting the afternoon of Monday the 14th, all the way through the championship awards the following Sunday night, there’s a little something for everyone, including plenty of chances to win cash, prizes, and to even help make a difference. The IFR’s “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer kicks off Thursday night, with doors opening at 6:00p.m. Be one of the first 500 people through the door, and you will receive a pink foam cowboy hat from the Oklahoman and IFR 38, which sounds like reason enough to attend, if you ask me. Other prizes will be given away as well, including two $100 gas cards from Love’s Country Store.

With constant events, shopping, great prizes, and the opportunity to support a terrific cause, IFR 38 will surely be one to remember.
